FAQ's
1.  Do I have to present a talent?
~No, to be a contestant you are not required to present a talent during the pageant.  There is an optional talent competition that you are welcome to enter.  This event will be held on Friday evening, following orientation and will be judged by different judges than the official pageant contest.

2.  What type of clothing do I need?
~Each contestant will receive an official pageant shirt with their entry fee.  THIS SHIRT IS REQUIRED BY NATIONAL PAGEANT AND IF YOU ARE CROWNED, YOU WILL WEAR THIS SHIRT TO/IN THE NATIONAL PAGANT.  This shirt will be worn during the opening production number on pageant night.  You will need to wear white capri pants, white socks (or no socks) and white tennis shoes (such as Keds).
~You will need an interview outfit (age appropriate) which is normally a dress or suit (older contestants).  Pant suits are also acceptable.  You will wear this outfit to your personal interview with the judges and during the on-stage introduction portion of the pageant.
~You will need a formal wear dress to wear on-stage for the formal wear portion of the pageant.  Please make sure your dress is 2" off the floor for safety purposes.  Shoes should compliment your dress, but be comfortable and easy to walk in while on stage.

3.  Should I allow my daughter to wear make-up?

~We promote our pageant as a "natural pageant".  We do encourage age-appropriate use of make-up.  With that being said....for the pageant event itself (Saturday evening) and while on-stage, even the little ones will need a minimal amount of "make-up".  For the younger ladies who do not normally wear make-up, the minimal use of blush, mascara and lip gloss will keep them from appearing "washed-out" while on stage, under theater lighting.

4.  How do I get started?
        ~Contact the director, 816-853-0667 or by e-mail:  youcanbeaprincess@gmail.com
and you will receive a registration form by e-mail.  Once your registration form has been returned along with your entry fee, a registration/information packet will be e-mailed.  This will contain important information, along with forms that will need to be returned to the director.  Please read all information thoroughly and carefully, as there are deadline dates for providing information, payments, photographs and ad for the program book.  Register early, as there are limited number of contestants accepted for each regional event.

5. What is the entry fee?

The application fee is $50 and guarantees you a spot in your age category.  The entry fee is $150 and is due within 30 days once your application has been accepted.

6. Why do I have to stay at the Host Hotel?
~Much effort and planning go into putting a state-level pageant into production.  Past experiences have shown that having all the contestants in one location makes for a much smoother event.  You will appreciate not having to waste precious free time driving between locations, through traffic, missing rehearsal, being late, etc.
If you have questions that are not addressed on our website or in this section, please e-mail the director and a response will be provided in a timely manner!
